Pressure / Decubitus

A localized insult to the skin or underlying soft-tissue where a bony prominence is located, such as the heel, ankle, or sacrum. The boney prominence can be from deformity, arthritic changes causing bone spurring, etc. The combination of friction / shearing forces and increased pressure can lead to the development of a wound.
