These are ulcers that form as a result of arterial insufficiency. Typical locations include the top of the foot, the tips of the toes, and the heel. The severe pain associated with arterial wounds is typically relieved with dependency (dangling the foot and leg). The shape is generally described as “punched-out” circular wounds with irregular edges.
