Lesions on the skin that can be concerning are often asymmetric, have irregular borders, contain an abnormal pigment or color, and a large size (bigger than a typical pencil eraser) that continues to grow rapidly.

Fungus

Skin, and more commonly nails, can be infected due to certain fungus. Conditions include athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm, and yeast infections.

Scabies

A skin disease with characteristic small, raised, red lesions and intense itching. The condition is contagious and is caused by burrowing mites.

Cellulitis

A skin and soft-tissue bacterial infection that affects the dermis and subcutaneous layer of fat. Skin can appear red, hot, swollen, and painful.
