Enzymatic
Certain wound care agents contain enzymes, such as collagenase, that help break down and clear away devitalized soft-tissue, further assisting the body’s natural reparative process.
Mechanical
A form of non-excisional debridement which can non-selectively debride a wound bed by applying a moist-to-dry dressing followed by manual removal of the dressing afterwards.
Non-Excisional
Cleaning of the wound base via vigorous washing or scrubbing, without use of sharp instruments.
Excisional
Sharp removal of devitalized soft-tissue at the wound margin / base.
