Vacuum Assisted Closure, also referred to as Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), is an adjunctive treatment modality where a suction device is placed over a wound. This wound is sealed off by a clear adhesive film, while a powered machine provides suction. This aids to increase blood flow, remove excessive fluid buildup, and promote growth of healthy granulation tissue.
